Happy Birthday,
Michelle

Forty-Six Years of Light

Twenty-eight years beside you — and still every day feels like the beginning.

A letter from your husband

To the woman who made
my whole life home

Michelle —

Twenty-eight years ago, life handed me something I didn't yet understand was a miracle. Today, on your forty-sixth birthday, I understand it completely.

"I know I will not find another precious stone like you."

You are smart. You are selfless. You are beautiful — inside and out. You are caring in a way that asks nothing in return. And you are loyal in a world that has forgotten what that word even means.

I'm getting older, and so are you, and the only thing I want more of is time — to make you smile, to celebrate you, to make sure you never go a single day without knowing how loved and how appreciated you are.

This page is just a small part of that promise.

Why You

Five reasons among thousands

i.
Smart
A mind that sees what others miss — sharp, intuitive, always two steps ahead.
ii.
Selfless
You give first, you give freely, and you never count what it costs you.
iii.
Beautiful
A beauty that doesn't fade — because it lives in how you treat the world.
iv.
Caring
You feel for people the way most only feel for themselves — and you act on it.
v.
Loyal
Through every season, every storm, every quiet ordinary day — always you.
A story that says everything

The Drive-By Blessing

When you snuck up to a stranger's porch — for the love of a child you'd never met

There was a claimant at your desk one day. A woman in a low place — caring for her son, or maybe her grandson — and she couldn't afford to buy him a pair of boots. You didn't say much in the moment. You just listened. But I could see it in your eyes.

So we found out where they lived. We bought a gift card — exactly the amount it would take to get those boots. We slid it into an envelope. And we drove over there.

You snuck up to that porch like a little robber. You set the card down in the right spot. Then you ran back to the car and we zoomed off into the night.

A drive-by blessing — and it felt great.

That's who you are, Michelle. You don't do good for credit. You don't do good for thanks. You do it because somewhere in this world, a kid needed boots, and you couldn't bear the thought of him going without.

And you told me — that's what you'd want to do every single day if you could. That's the dream tucked inside your simple, low-maintenance, family-first heart. That's why you're beautiful, inside and out. That's why I keep telling you — there is not another precious stone like you in this world.

Stacking memories

And we keep stacking more

28
Years · And Counting
i.
Every quiet morning that turned into a life together
ii.
Every storm we walked through holding hands
iii.
Every laugh that became an inside joke nobody else gets
iv.
Every kid we raised, every meal we shared, every prayer we whispered
v.
Every drive-by blessing we'll keep doing for as long as we're able
vi.
Every year ahead — and we are just getting started
A toast for forty-six

To the love of my life

I will not find another precious stone like you.
So as we grow older, I'm trying to do better —
to make you smile more and more each day,
to celebrate you,
and to make sure you always know
you are loved and appreciated.

Happy birthday, my queen.
Here's to forty-six — and to every year we have left to stack.

All my love, always —
Eric
